What Is an LT Panel?

An LT panel, or Low Tension panel, is an electrical distribution board that operates at voltages up to 1000V AC (typically 415V, 3-phase in Indian industrial systems). It receives power from a transformer or generator and distributes it safely to motors, machines, lighting systems, and sub-panels within a facility.

LT panels are the backbone of industrial power distribution. They house circuit breakers, bus bars, metering instruments, and protection relays that keep your electrical system safe, efficient, and code-compliant. Depending on their function, LT panels are classified into several types — PCC panels, MCC panels, APFC panels, distribution boards, and feeder pillars — each serving a specific role in your power infrastructure.

Our Complete Range of LT Electrical Panels

We manufacture and supply seven types of LT panels, each engineered for a specific function in industrial and commercial power systems.

Panel Type Primary Function Best Suited For

Textile Industry, Gujarat Gujarat’s large textile sector demands reliable motor control for looms, dyeing machines, and air handling systems. Our MCC panels with DOL and star-delta starters are a standard choice for textile plants in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot.

Water Treatment & Sewage Plants STP and WTP projects need APFC panels and MCC panels with weather-resistant enclosures. We supply panels for both government and private water infrastructure projects.

Food Processing Plants Food industry panels require hygienic enclosures, reliable power factor correction, and smooth motor control. Our APFC and MCC panels are deployed in processing units across Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Real Estate & Commercial Infrastructure High-rise buildings, malls, and IT parks require power distribution boards, lighting distribution boards, and auto changeover panels. We supply to builders, MEP contractors, and facility management companies.

Renewable Energy & Solar Projects We manufacture LT panels for solar power plants, including AC distribution panels and synchronising panels for DG-solar hybrid systems.

GIDC Industrial Estates Feeder pillar panels for outdoor power distribution in GIDC estates across Vatva, Naroda, Changodar, and other industrial zones in Gujarat.

How to Choose the Right LT Panel for Your Facility

Choosing the wrong panel type is a costly mistake. Here is a simple guide to help you or your electrical consultant identify which LT panel best fits your application.

PCC Panel vs MCC Panel — What Is the Difference?

A PCC panel (Power Control Centre) is the first point of distribution after your transformer or DG set. It handles the incoming main power and distributes it to downstream panels like MCC panels, distribution boards, and sub-panels. PCC panels carry very high current — typically 1600A to 6300A — and protect the main power bus.

An MCC panel (Motor Control Centre) sits downstream of the PCC. Its job is to start, stop, protect, and control individual electric motors. Each motor in your plant gets its own compartment in the MCC with a starter (DOL, star-delta, or VFD), overload relay, and isolator.

Simple rule: If your question is “how do I control the main power coming in?” you need a PCC. If your question is “how do I control my motors?” you need an MCC.

When Do You Need an APFC Panel?

If your electricity bill includes a penalty for low power factor, or if your distribution company warns you about reactive power, you need an APFC panel. Industries with large inductive loads motors, transformers, welding machines, air compressors typically run at power factors between 0.7 and 0.85. Bringing this to 0.95 or above with an APFC panel can reduce your electricity bill by 10–20% and also reduce line losses and transformer loading.

Feeder Pillar vs Power Distribution Board

A feeder pillar is designed for outdoor installation — it is a weatherproof, free-standing enclosure used to distribute power in open areas like GIDC compounds, roads, streetlights, or large campuses.

A power distribution board (PDB) is typically installed indoors, inside a factory or building, to distribute power from the MCC or PCC to individual machines or circuits.

Quality Standards & Certifications

Every LT panel we manufacture at Autologic Controls is built and tested to meet nationally and internationally recognised standards:

IS 8623 / IEC 61439 — Our panels are designed and manufactured as per the Indian Standard IS 8623 and its international equivalent IEC 61439, which covers factory-built assemblies of low-voltage switchgear and controlgear.

IP Protection Testing — Panels are tested for their declared ingress protection rating using standard IP testing procedures.

Bus Bar Current Capacity Verification — All copper and aluminium bus bars are sized and tested for the declared rated current and fault withstand capacity.

HV Insulation Testing — High voltage insulation tests are carried out between phases and between phase-to-earth, with 500V megger insulation checks before and after HV testing.

Component Traceability — All installed switchgear, relays, and metering components carry manufacturer test certificates and calibration records.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a PCC panel and an MCC panel, and which one does my factory need?

A PCC panel (Power Control Center) is your main incoming distribution panel — it receives bulk power directly from your transformer or DG set and distributes it to downstream panels. An MCC panel (Motor Control Center) sits downstream and is used to start, stop, and protect individual electric motors in your plant. Most medium to large factories need both — a PCC for main power distribution and an MCC for motor control. If you are setting up a new plant or expanding, our engineering team can review your single-line diagram (SLD) and recommend the right combination based on your load profile.

How much does a custom LT panel cost, and what affects the price?

LT panel pricing depends on four main factors — panel type (PCC, MCC, APFC, etc.), current rating (100A to 6300A), switchgear brand (Schneider, Siemens, ABB, L&T), and IP protection rating required. A basic distribution board starts significantly lower than a fully compartmentalized MCC with VFD starters. Since every panel is built to your exact specification, we provide project-specific quotes within 24 hours. Share your single-line diagram or load list with us and we will send you a detailed, itemized quotation.

Can you manufacture an LT panel as per my drawing or electrical consultant's specification?

Yes, this is our primary mode of working. We accept orders based on client-supplied single-line diagrams (SLD), GA drawings, bill of materials, or electrical consultant specifications. Our in-house engineering team reviews your drawings, suggests improvements if needed, and builds the panel exactly to your approved design. We also work directly with MEP consultants, project management companies, and EPC contractors across India.

What IP rating do I need for my LT panel and what is the difference between IP54, IP55, and IP65?

IP rating indicates how well your panel is protected against dust and water ingress. For indoor factory environments, IP42 or IP54 is usually sufficient. If your panel will be installed in a dusty, humid, or outdoor location such as a GIDC compound, water treatment plant, or chemical plant you need IP55 or IP65. IP65 provides full dust protection and protection against low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it the right choice for harsh or outdoor environments. We manufacture panels in all four ratings IP42, IP54, IP55, and IP65 and can advise based on your site conditions.

How long does it take to manufacture and deliver an LT panel in Ahmedabad or anywhere in India?

Standard LT panels such as distribution boards and feeder pillars typically take 2–3 weeks from order confirmation. Complex panels like large PCC or MCC assemblies with custom compartmentalization, bus bar ratings above 2000A, or VFD integration may take 4–8 weeks depending on switchgear procurement lead times. We supply pan-India from our Ahmedabad manufacturing facility and coordinate logistics for projects in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi NCR, Karnataka, and beyond. Delivery timelines are confirmed in writing at the time of order.
